We have sent out 115 letters notifying adjacent landowners along the trail of the CMT and requesting that they complete a survey so we may record their views about the trail. Once sufficient time has passed for receipt of the surveys we will then compile the data and determine the general consensus of the people who live along the trail.

Currently, we have 25 returned surveys.

The survey break-down is as follows:

• 14 in favor of a self-propelled, physically active recreational trail.
• 6 in favor of a multi-use trail that would include ATV's, 2 of whom own
  land, but do not 'live' on the trail.
• 3 neutral, (1 of which would like access to his woodlot.)
• 2 who say they do not want any trail at all passing through their
  backyard.
  
  Concerns include:
  Vandalism, theft, noise, strangers, personal safety, litter, damage to
  trail surface and ski tracks.

June 26, 2006

The CMTA and Janet Barlow of The Ecology Action Centre had met with the Physical Education Instructor of Gaetz Brook Junior High who are eager to use the trail as part of their Phys Ed curriculum.

Brochures of the trail will be developed and ready to go out with the children on Thursday (June 29) describing our intentions for the trail.

The surveys had come in fairly regularly in March, April and May, but none have been received for a few weeks now and we do not expect many more.

So as of today the count is:

Total Surveys Received - 56

Non-Motorized - 25

Motorized - 16

Neutral (neither for nor against a trail or do not use it) - 9

Against Trail - 6

The brochures, mentioned previously, where created on time and delivered to the school.
