The Chezzetcook to Musquodoboit Trail is 9.6 km and runs more or less parallel with the number 7 highway (Marine Drive) starting from the Head Of Chezzetcook (near exit 21 on route 107) and terminates at Caboose Information Center at the Musquodoboit Railway Museum.

Beginning at East Chezzetcook Road, the trail immediately crosses over the Chezzetcook River (first bridge) and runs for a short distance along the river to Gaetz's Brook (second bridge), which is also a popular fishing hole (Gaspereau and Trout).

The trail passes through the community of Gaetz Brook hugging the number 7 highway close to the
Tin Roof Mercantile & Cafe, a great spot for a snack or lunch. Then running behind the Gaetz Brook Legion and Gaetz Brook Junior High School, and skirting Pleasant Drive, the location of the Elephants Nest Bed and Breakfast. The trail crosses Roger's Brook (third bridge) and leads onto a short causeway between Long Bridge Lake and Petpeswick Lake, another perfect spot for launching a kayak or canoe.

Approximately 6 km from the start point at the Head Of Chezzetcook and just before entering Musquodoboit Harbour the trail will cross route 107. Although the 107 has low to moderate traffic please be cautious when crossing as it is a 100km/h highway, fortunately one can see in either direction for quite some distance.

Soon after it will then cross the number 7 highway skirting the Industrial Park and will bring you into Musquodoboit Harbour to join up with the existing
Musquodoboit Rail Trail. The final bridge crossing is over Little River, and the bridge is much higher and longer than the first 3 bridges! Musquodoboit Harbour contains many amenities such as a picnic area, washrooms, visitor information and many places to eat or get an ice cream!
